EDP buys second Anderson family propane company

March 8, 2023 By

Chicago, Illinois-based Energy Distribution Partners (EDP) has acquired Mount Perry Propane, headquartered in Mount Perry, Ohio.

Founded in 2010 by Jordy and Sadie Anderson, Mount Perry Propane serves 2,800 residential, commercial and agricultural customers across nine counties in southeastern Ohio.

EDP previously purchased another Anderson family propane company in 2018 with the acquisition of Caldwell, Ohio-based Anderson Propane Services, owned by Jordy’s parents, Danny and Lisa Anderson. Danny and Lisa had owned and managed Anderson Propane Services since 1999 but, it was founded in 1955 by Danny’s grandfather and primarily serves residential customers in and around Caldwell and Uhrichsville, Ohio. At the time, it served at EDP’s seventh operation in Ohio and it’s 22nd transaction overall.

Today, Mount Perry Propane marks EDP’s 35th acquisition.

“Choosing a buyer who would take good care of our employees was very important to us,” Jordy says. “Since EDP has maintained the legacy of my parents’ business – by taking excellent care of both their employees and their customers – it made sense for us to entrust EDP with our company, as well. We are confident we’ve made the right choice.”

Tom Knauff, president and CEO of EDP, launched the company in 2012.

“Four years after purchasing Anderson Propane, we are thrilled that Jordy and Sadie Anderson also chose EDP when it came time to sell their business,” Knauff says. “They have built a great reputation for providing exceptional service to their customers and being active in the local communities. We look forward to continuing that legacy and to welcoming their employees to the EDP family.”

The company marked its 10th year in business in 2022 with a corporate gathering at its Chicago headquarters. EDP serves customers across 19 states and ranks ninth in LP Gas’ 2023 Top Propane Retailers ranking for highest gallon sales.
