F.W. Webb 160 Years

F.W. Webb Co. is marking its 160th anniversary by highlighting the employees and relationships that have contributed to its longevity.

Founded April 11, 1866, the company traces its origins to one of the first plumbing supply houses in Boston. More than 150 years later, and through three generations of Pope family ownership, F.W. Webb has grown into a resource for trade professionals across the Northeast.

Today, the company reports $2.6 billion in annual revenue, employs more than 3,700 people and stocks more than 1 million products across 16 areas of expertise.

“As we celebrate this milestone, it is important that we recognize the many people who have contributed to the success we’ve achieved,” says Jeff Pope, owner and president of F.W. Webb. “We value the work of our dedicated team and appreciate the trust our customers place in us. My family will continue the legacy established by previous generations to support the skilled trades for years to come.”

The company says relationships remain central to F.W. Webb’s operations, including its partnerships with manufacturers and business partners, as well as its support for community initiatives. The company contributes to organizations such as Boston Children’s Hospital, Bring Back the Trades, SkillsUSA Massachusetts and other workforce development efforts.

Anniversary highlights

To commemorate the anniversary, F.W. Webb plans to roll out a series of features throughout the year on its website and social media platforms. These include customer testimonials, employee interviews and a video tour of its Salem, Massachusetts, location, one of the company’s oldest branches.

The company also plans commemorative signage at major venues across the Northeast, including Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium and Citizens Bank Park.

Looking ahead

F.W. Webb says it plans to continue expanding its operations, with multiple store and facility openings or renovations scheduled for 2026. The company also plans to open a second central distribution center in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, in 2027.
