Ford unveils taxi with CNG and LPG capabilities
Ford introduced the 2014 Transit Connect taxi at the International Association of Transportation Regulators Conference in St. Louis. According to Ford, the taxi is the only one offered with a compressed natural gas and LP gas engine prep package.
Ford says the taxi is longer, offering seating for five and increased cargo capacity. The roomy interior is suited for livery service and conversion to CNG and LPG, the company adds. The vehicle’s cargo space accommodates a compressed gas tank and leaves room for luggage and passenger headroom and legroom. It features 60.5 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row. The 2014 model also comes with a new powertrain – the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
