Gas Equipment Co. (GEC) and Metsa entered into an exclusive distribution agreement in which GEC, a Makeen Energy company, will make Metsa’s UG dome available to its propane industry customers.

The business relationship between the Dallas-based equipment distributor and the tank manufacturer with headquarters near Monterrey, Mexico, extends back to 2021 when Metsa was designing and supplying special tanks for GEC’s turnkey skid units.

That relationship has grown significantly over the years through trust, shared values and a commitment to customer service and industry development, according to Metsa CEO Robert Kenney.

“The launch of our UG dome, in our opinion, is significant for customers nationwide who seek to facilitate underground installations and improve safety,” Kenney says. “While we originally planned to keep this as an exclusive add-on for our tanks, we visualized that the benefit should be available to all customers who seek these operational improvements.”

Metsa sought the services of GEC, with its vast footprint and customer service qualities, to make its vision a reality, Kenney adds.

“Our distribution network is spread out in the central and eastern U.S. to provide next-day shipping for our customers, in most cases,” says Kevin Pruitt, vice president of sales for GEC, also acknowledging the company’s inside and outside sales team.

According to Metsa, customers will benefit from the workspace within the UG dome, allowing for installers to set up a regulator without having to adjust to fit a wrench. The dome provides easy access to the valves within the shroud as well as the liquid withdrawal on the tank. The size and shape also spaciously accommodate technological solutions such as tank monitors and other installed electronics.

“The response from the field has been tremendous,” Kenney says. “Showcasing this solution at trade shows has allowed for us to get closer to service people and hear their opinions, and they have been very positive.”

The UG dome is a featured product in GEC’s new web store at gasequipment.com. Customers also can visit metsa.com.
