Houston school district board approves propane buses

February 9, 2011 By

The Houston Independent School District will buy 25 propane-fueled school buses with the help of funding from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality ($1.5 million) and the Texas Railroad Commission ($620,500). The school district’s board voted to accept the $2.1 million grant from the state agencies. The money will cover 70 percent of the costs to purchase the propane buses, and the district will fund the rest, the Houston Business Journal reported. The district runs 1,025 school buses in its fleet.
