U.S. corn crop progress, July 2024

Propane retailers preparing for the crop drying season should note that corn crop progress is on pace with the five-year average. By June 30, 11 percent of the nation’s corn acreage had reached the silking stage, 4 percentage points ahead of last year and 5 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average. On June 30, 67 percent of the nation’s corn acreage was rated in good to excellent condition, 2 percentage points below the previous week but 16 percentage points above the previous year. In Iowa, the largest corn-producing state, 73 percent of the corn crop was rated in good to excellent condition. The weekly crop progress report tracks corn in 18 states, accounting for 92 percent of U.S. corn acreage.
