Hohl’s Propane sells and delivers propane to residential, agriculture and commercial customers in six counties in the Wisconsin Dells area of southern Wisconsin.

“We are pleased to add to our market strength in southern Wisconsin,” says Lakes Gas CEO Trent Hampton. “Hohl’s Propane customers can expect us to continue to provide outstanding customer service and to remain involved in the local communities. In addition, they will have greater access to more purchasing programs and online services.”

Vern Hohl founded Hohl’s Propane in 1985.

“I am grateful that Lakes Gas was there when I was ready to sell,” Hohl says. “After 37 years in the business, it was a difficult decision to sell, but the Lakes Gas team has been very helpful during the transition.”

This transaction is Lakes Gas’ third acquisition of 2022. The company also purchased Blackhawk Propane (South Beloit, Illinois) and Foss-Johnson Oil (Walcott, North Dakota).

Founded in 1959, family-owned Lakes Gas is among the Top 20 U.S. propane retailers for sales of retail gallons, according to the 2022 LP Gas Top Propane Retailers ranking. Its 50 locations in the Upper Midwest are staffed by employees who live in the communities they serve.
