LP gas boilers recalled due to carbon monoxide risk
Crown Boiler recalled its CWD Series cast iron hot water boilers that use LP gas or natural gas to heat water in home baseboard, floor or radiator heating systems. The recall was issued because of a carbon monoxide hazard. Crown Boiler is recalling about 2,200 units that were manufactured between May 2005 and July 2013.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the boilers’ air pressure switch can fail to shut down in the burner if there is a blockage in the vent system. This would allow the boiler to emit carbon monoxide and pose a threat to consumers. CPSC adds that plumbing and heating wholesale distributors sold these boilers, and that they sold for between $4,000 and $6,700 apiece.
