MFA Oil acquires Gygr-Gas
MFA Oil Co., a farmer-owned energy supply cooperative, acquired the assets of Gygr-Gas, an independent propane retailer based in Boonville, Missouri. The purchase includes an office and warehouse in Boonville, trucks, and bulk storage tanks in Missouri near DeSoto, Fulton, Moberly and Sunrise Beach. The Gygr-Gas office in DeSoto, Missouri, was not part of the deal.
“We look forward to the opportunity to work with any customers who previously bought their propane from Gygr-Gas,” says Kenny Steeves, senior vice president of MFA Oil operations. “This acquisition further strengthens our supply position in central Missouri and will enable us to continue to provide exceptional service to our members and customers in the surrounding areas.”
MFA Oil encourages former Gygr-Gas customers to call to learn about propane pricing and contracting opportunities. The phone number for mid-Missouri customers is 660-631-9979, and the number for customers near DeSoto is 573-438-3762. MFA Oil plans to reopen the office at 12790 Old Hwy 40 in Boonville on July 17.
This is the second acquisition for MFA Oil in the company’s 2023 fiscal year, which began on Sept. 1, 2022. MFA Oil previously purchased Blue Flame Gas of Marthasville, Missouri. MFA Oil continues to evaluate strategic acquisition opportunities within its trade territory.
MFA Oil Co., formed in 1929, is a farmer-owned cooperative and the 11th largest propane retailer in the U.S. in gallon sales, according to the 2023 LP Gas Top Propane Retailers ranking. The company supplies fuels, lubricants and propane to customers in Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Through a subsidiary, MFA Oil operates Break Time convenience stores in Missouri; a Big O Tires franchise in Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas; a solar panel installation company, BluSphere Energy; and APM, a wholesale fuel distributor.
