The Missouri Propane Safety Commission (MPSC) appointed Derek Poe as its executive director.

Poe managed budgets of more than $2 million for Titan Propane and AmeriGas during his 15 years in operations management.

He proposed and implemented the AmeriGas Area 28 Safety Committee and serves on the boards of the MPSC, the Missouri Propane Gas Association (MPGA) and the Missouri Propane Education & Research Council (MOPERC).

“We are excited to have Derek as a new leader to continue the progress of the safety commission since its formation over a decade ago,” says Larry Borts, chairman of the MPSC. “Derek’s strong safety experience at AmeriGas and Titan combined with the relationships he has built working with Missouri’s propane retailers through many years on the boards of MPSC, MPGA and MOPERC make him a great leader for the commission.”

Poe worked as an assistant golf professional before joining the propane industry in 2006. He served as a service technician for a year at Titan Propane before becoming the district manager in 2007. The company was later acquired by AmeriGas, where Poe became an area manager in 2020.

“I look forward to my new role leading the Missouri Propane Safety Commission,” Poe says. “Propane safety has been at the heart of my years in the propane industry. I look forward to this new role working with the propane retailers throughout the state of Missouri.”
