Philadelphia Cycling Classic to return in 2026 with AmeriGas sponsorship

AmeriGas, the nation’s largest retail propane distributor and a subsidiary of UGI Corp., is highlighting Philadelphia’s upcoming slate of major international events while promoting its role as title sponsor of the Philadelphia Cycling Classic.
Company executives hosted civic, tourism and sports leaders at UGI’s headquarters to preview three major events scheduled for 2026: the FIFA World Cup 2026, the United States’ 250th anniversary and the return of the cycling race after a decade-long hiatus.
“For more than 140 years, UGI has been part of the fabric of this region, and we carry that history with genuine pride,” says UGI President and CEO Bob Flexon. “Sponsoring the Philadelphia Cycling Classic and helping to bring it back to the city felt like a natural extension of who we are.”
Flexon and AmeriGas marketing executive Jessica Morris led a discussion that included Visit Philadelphia President and CEO Angela Val, Philadelphia Soccer 2026 Senior Director of Strategy, Operations and Partnerships Alison Grove, former Philadelphia Mayor and Race Street Partners Co-Founder Michael Nutter, and Race Street Partners Co-Founders Eric Robbins and Carlos Rogers.
AmeriGas President Michael Sharp says the sponsorship reflects the company’s recent operational changes, including moving customer service operations back to the United States and focusing on growth and service improvements.
The company plans to engage employees nationwide ahead of the race through events such as group bike rides, volunteer opportunities and partnerships with nonprofit organizations.
The Philadelphia Cycling Classic is scheduled to return Aug. 30. The race will feature professional men’s and women’s fields competing on a course through the city that includes the Manayunk Wall and Lemon Hill, with equal prize purses for both fields.
