The 824-cubic-centimeter Command Pro EFI engine features a highly tuned air-intake system that enhances airflow to maximize power and torque, Kohler Engines says. Kohler’s closed-loop, electronic fuel injection system, when coupled with the new design, makes the 824 Kohler’s most fuel-efficient commercial engine, the company adds. Kohler’s propane Command Pro EFI engines – the PCV850 and PCV860, which exhibit 27 and 29 horsepower, respectively – produce equivalent power and torque compared with gasoline engines. Also, the fact that the engines are available direct from the factory means aftermarket propane kits are not needed. The engine will be available on numerous commercial lawn mowers for the 2015 model year to help landscape companies boost production.
