Propane industry welcomes 2024 LP Gas Hall of Fame class
With lights shining brightly on stage, the LP Gas Hall of Fame welcomed five new inductees during a dinner and ceremony Thursday night at The Westin Charlotte.
For the third year, nearly 200 attendees joined the propane industry celebration, which is held on the eve of the National Propane Gas Association’s (NPGA) Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo.
LP Gas Publisher Brian Kanaba and Editor-in-Chief Brian Richesson led the ceremony on stage honoring the 11th class of inductees.
Steve Kaminski, the president and CEO of NPGA, was a special guest, addressing attendees during the program. The Propane Expo opens Friday at the Charlotte Convention Center and runs through Sunday.
“We know this group well, and we recognize the impacts they’ve made in the propane industry,” Richesson said. “But they couldn’t have arrived at this point tonight without the recognition of their propane industry peers through the Hall of Fame selection process.”
This year, LP Gas inducted the Hall of Fame’s first husband-and-wife couple, Joe and Rosie Buschur of McMahan’s Bottle Gas in Dayton, Ohio.
A little surprise awaited the audience when it came time to honor Mike Walters: the LP Gas team shared a behind-the-scenes video of the special moment when Walters learned of his Hall of Fame honor.
This year’s class joins 48 inductees whom LP Gas magazine has honored since the event launched more than 10 years ago.
The Class of 2024 includes:
- Joe and Rosie Buschur, McMahan’s Bottle Gas
- Randy Doyle, MAPCO/Thermogas
- Bruce Swiecicki, National Propane Gas Association
- Mike Walters, Superior Energy Systems
LP Gas launched the Hall of Fame in 2012 as a way to honor the industry’s legends, icons and leaders, who are chosen by an anonymous selection committee composed of different segments of the propane industry. The committee receives nominations throughout the year. The event serves as a propane industry celebration of past and present leaders, who gather on the eve of the National Propane Gas Association’s Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo.
