Rutherford Equipment Inc. promoted Mike Rutherford to serve as its new president, effective May 1.

Randy Rutherford, current president at Rutherford Equipment, will step down from his position and plans to continue to serve as the company’s chairman, according to the company.

Mike Rutherford most recently worked as Rutherford Equipment’s vice president of sales and marketing. In that position, he was responsible for the sales growth of all products, including propane equipment. He first joined Rutherford Equipment in 1998 upon graduation from the University of Georgia. Since joining the company, he has helped to launch and grow the gas grill sector of the business, the company says.

In addition, Ray Coile, operations manager at Rutherford Equipment, announced plans to retire May 1. Coile joined Rutherford Equipment in 2002 after working as a district manager at General Gas, Amoco and Northern Propane. He has served in the propane industry for about 57 years.

“Ray has been a tremendous asset to the company,” Randy Rutherford says. “His wealth of knowledge, experience and relationships have been invaluable.”
