Companies continue to explore new ways to engage consumers while demonstrating real-world sustainability solutions. Suburban Propane delivered an example during NASCAR weekend June 19-21 in San Diego, combining renewable energy innovation, experiential marketing and community engagement.

Over race weekend, Suburban Propane, the official propane partner of NASCAR, powered an electric vehicle (EV) charging demonstration using renewable propane, showcasing how low-carbon fuels can support EV infrastructure in locations where traditional grid access may be limited. The activation, through a collaboration with ABB, Kempower and NASCAR, highlighted the growing role renewable propane can play in expanding energy options and supporting transportation electrification efforts.

The installation utilized renewable propane-fueled generators to charge battery storage systems, while ABB equipment managed power delivery to Kempower DC movable chargers.

At the same time, Suburban Propane partnered with Old Town Trolley Tours of San Diego to launch the PhilMor & SeeMore San Diego Photo Contest, an experiential marketing campaign designed to connect with consumers through social media, tourism and outdoor recreation. The initiative featured a dedicated Media Day event where local media, influencers and community partners toured San Diego aboard Old Town Trolley’s propane-powered vehicles and learned more about the environmental and operational benefits of propane-powered transportation.
