Superior Fuel Co. acquires Kotaco Fuels’ Park Rapids, Minnesota, division

Superior Fuel Co., a provider of energy solutions throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin, has expanded its regional footprint by acquiring Kotaco Fuels’ Park Rapids, Minnesota, division. The acquisition is effective May 5.

According to Superior Fuel Co., this move strengthens its presence in north-central Minnesota and enhances operational efficiency across its service territory. With this acquisition, Superior Fuel now operates 21 bulk plants and six regional offices throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin, underscoring its commitment to delivering dependable, local service backed by regional scale, according to the company.

“This acquisition fills a key geographic gap in our distribution network,” says Ryan Gunderson, president of Superior Fuel Co. “By integrating Kotaco’s Park Rapids operations into our system, we’re able to streamline logistics, improve service responsiveness and support continued growth in the region. It’s a strong strategic fit that benefits both our company and our customers.”

Superior remains dedicated to providing safe, reliable and cost-effective fuel solutions for residential, commercial and agricultural customers across the Upper Midwest, the company says.

Superior, No. 44 in the LP Gas Top Propane Retailer rankings with about 7.5 million gallons in annual sales, is headquartered in Superior, Wisconsin. Kotaco Fuels is a fuel service provider headquartered in Fargo, North Dakota, with locations across the Midwest.
