United Energy Trading, Superior Fuel reach throughput agreement
United Energy Trading LLC (UET) and Superior Fuel Co. partnered on an exclusive throughput agreement in which UET will provide wholesale propane from Superior’s rail terminal in Duluth, Minnesota.
The terminal, constructed in 2021, serves customers in northern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin. It features four 80,000-gallon propane storage tanks and ample track capacity to accommodate surges in volumes during peak demand periods. The facility is served by BNSF and strategically located near a major interchange, allowing rail supply to be economically sourced from multiple Class 1 carriers, according to UET.
“Superior Fuel is excited to be partnering with United Energy at our rail terminal in Duluth,” says Superior Fuel Co. President Ryan Gunderson in an email to LP Gas. “We originally built the terminal to fill our supply needs and to add an additional supply location for other propane marketers in northern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin. After operating the terminal for two years, we felt confident in our ability to add additional volumes by partnering with a wholesaler. After meeting with Wade and Shane from United Energy Trading, I felt we shared a lot of the same values, and they would be a great fit for our market.”
United Energy Trading says it will offer a wide range of supply options and flexible pricing structures to meet the needs of any customer.
“We agree that it will be an attractive new supply point for a lot of potential customers in the region and are thrilled to be partnering with Ryan and the Superior Fuel team,” says Wade Willetts of UET.
