Texas conference provides hands-on propane safety training

October 9, 2014 By

The third annual Texas Propane Emergency Responders Conference was held in College Station, Texas. Students included emergency responders, many from volunteer fire departments, from across the state. Licensed propane professionals in attendance received continuing education credits.

The training course is based on the Propane Education & Research Council‘s training procedures for propane emergencies and taught by professionals in the propane industry who have extensive fire service knowledge. It included two days of training, with half in a classroom and half at the Brayton Training Field. Live fire props and 2,100 gallons of propane fuel were used to show students how to handle transport, bulk storage plant, leaking pipe and residential tank propane emergencies.
