ThompsonGas acquires Automatic Gas and Appliance Co.

ThompsonGas acquired Automatic Gas and Appliance Co. of Sylacauga, Alabama.

“Finalizing the acquisition of Automatic Gas [and Appliance Co.] completes a record year for us at ThompsonGas,” says Jeff Kerns, ThompsonGas CEO. “We have added over 150 employees to our team and more than 50,000 customers in 2018. Automatic Gas is a well-established company within our Alabama footprint. Their experienced employees will continue with us to service the region. We will continue to grow our footprint in the South and are seeking quality propane companies to acquire.”

This marks the sixth acquisition for Frederick, Maryland-based ThompsonGas in 2018.

“It was once said that, ‘The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.’ My father, Johnnie Jones and his brother Tommy Jones, founded Automatic Gas & Appliance in 1946 based on the principles of providing quality services to their customers and knowing their employees were the company’s greatest assets,” says Janet Vawter, Automatic Gas & Appliance president. “I believe ThompsonGas will continue these founding principles.”
