ThompsonGas CEO to retire; succession plan formed
ThompsonGas announced the pending retirement of CEO George Koloroutis, who has been with the Frederick, Maryland-based company for more than six years.
Koloroutis and the ThompsonGas board of directors are working to ensure a smooth and seamless transition, says the company, which intends to open a national search for a successor. Koloroutis will continue to serve as CEO until a proper hand-off occurs.
“George has been absolutely instrumental in driving growth at ThompsonGas,” says CFO Dave Franchak. “With George at the helm, our company has gone from a Mid-Atlantic propane marketer to a national propane distributor. His insight and leadership will certainly be missed. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Under the leadership of Koloroutis, ThompsonGas has undergone a transformation, growing annual sales over 500 percent, the company says. ThompsonGas, ranked 12th in LP Gas’ 2018 list of the largest U.S. propane retailers, now serves more than 125,000 customers in 18 states.
Koloroutis has enjoyed a long and fruitful career in the oil and gas sector, as well as other industries. Prior to joining ThompsonGas, Koloroutis was a senior executive at Ferrellgas for 21 years. He had the opportunity to work in many locations around the United States, gaining valuable experience and skill in leadership, management, sales and marketing, risk management and operations management.
“I’ve deeply enjoyed my time with ThompsonGas. We’ve accomplished some truly great things together,” Koloroutis says. “I’m looking forward to enjoying all that retirement has to offer, and I know this company will continue to perform at an extremely high level.”
