Throughout the last eight years, Berg’s career in the propane industry has steadily progressed. From working for a North Dakota-based cooperative to taking on three positions with Bergquist, she has obtained extensive expertise in cooperative operations, distribution sales and telemetry technology. She has also made many new friends.

A new career opportunity

In June, Berg received her latest career opportunity: to serve Bergquist as the director of marketer growth solutions – power generation.

Through this position, she develops and executes growth strategies that enable Bergquist to provide innovative solutions to propane marketers.

While working with Bergquist’s customers, she also identifies operational challenges and delivers fuel management, monitoring and technology solutions, which enhance their efficiency, reliability, safety and profitability. Furthermore, she supports various opportunities in the broader power generation market.

In particular, she helps customers implement solutions that improve their operational performance and meet regulatory requirements.

Propane’s role in power generation

Since joining Bergquist in 2021, Berg has discovered that propane is a “reliable, lower-emission alternative for power generation.” She believes it can be used in three ways, especially: as a primary energy source, a backup option or an off-grid solution.

“It is highly portable, stores well long term without degrading and burns cleaner than diesel or gasoline, making it popular for residential, commercial and industrial standby generators.”

A rewarding experience

Despite only having her new position for a short amount of time, Berg considers the experience to be “both rewarding and impactful” so far. She has fully immersed herself in the propane industry, leading to “a deeper understanding of the challenges propane marketers face.”

By doing so, she can identify opportunities to enhance her clients’ customer service, operational efficiency and profitability. Not to mention, while collaborating with her colleagues, she’s been able to leverage their expertise, as she strives to contribute to Bergquist’s long-term growth strategy.

Beyond power generation

Although much of her work focuses on power generation, Berg has witnessed propane technologies’ versatility in supporting diverse applications and industries.

For example, in agriculture, propane supports essential farm operations – from livestock facilities to crop production. Meanwhile, in logistics, propane-fueled forklifts help warehouses and distribution centers operate efficiently. Finally, propane provides reliable energy for greenhouses, breweries and distilleries, too.

“Additionally, propane-powered micro-CHP (combined heat and power) systems and infrastructure refurbishment initiatives support greater energy efficiency, resilience and sustainability in commercial and industrial facilities. This demonstrates propane’s expanding role as a versatile energy solution.”

Hobbies

Away from work, Berg is often outside, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, hiking and kayaking, and taking care of her horses. She also relishes quiet time while cooking, reading, reflecting and meditating.

“These hobbies help me stay balanced, continue learning and enjoy time with family and friends.”
