Basin Coop acquires Inter-Mountain Propane

Basin Coop Inc., based in Durango, Colorado, acquired Inter-Mountain Propane LLC, headquartered in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The deal closed Aug. 26.

Inter-Mountain Propane is a propane provider founded in the early 2020s by owner Ronnie Urbanczyk that serves the Pagosa Springs area. Urbanczyk built a leadership team over that period, and the company now serves customers throughout Archuleta, La Plata and Mineral counties, providing propane tank installation, service, leak checks and repairs.

“I am very pleased with the outcome of this transaction and grateful to Cetane and specifically Tamera (Kovacs) for helping guide me through the process,” says Urbanczyk. “Basin Coop is a strong fit for Inter-Mountain, and I am confident that our customers and employees will be in good hands.”

Basin Coop is a member-owned agricultural cooperative based in Durango with operations spanning propane and petroleum, agricultural supplies, agronomy, tires and convenience retail. The cooperative operates throughout southwest Colorado, including a location in Pagosa Springs, and has a propane and fuels operation supported by multiple delivery trucks and storage capacity.

Don Dukart, president and CEO of Basin Coop, says the cooperative plans to build on the business Urbanczyk established.

“We look forward to building on the strong foundation Ronnie has established and continuing to provide customers with the dependable, personal service they know and trust,” says Dukart. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to serve the Pagosa Springs community and look forward to the future.”

Tamera Kovacs, director at Cetane Associates, says Urbanczyk built the business quickly and that Basin Coop is positioned to continue its growth.

“We are very pleased for Ronnie and the Inter-Mountain team and proud to have helped bring this transaction together,” says Kovacs.

Cetane served as the sole arranger for Inter-Mountain, advising on the sale, including a valuation opinion, marketing the business, negotiating deal terms and coordinating due diligence. Kovacs, Jack McMurchie and Barrett Conway managed the transaction for Cetane.
