Conversations at LP Gas Growth Summit ignite meaningful partnership
As president and COO of Scott Petroleum Corp., Ryan Brewer fully understands the significance of collaboration, along with idea exchange. In fact, these tasks are so important to Brewer that he decided to attend the 2025 LP Gas Growth Summit.

Seeking an opportunity to connect with other retailers and vendor partners across the propane industry, Brewer believes the summit was a perfect fit for him and Scott Petroleum.
“The summit created an environment where conversations could happen and where we could collectively discuss what’s best for the propane industry’s future,” Brewer says.
Pat Halpin, director of sales at Mopeka, completely agrees. Specializing in sonar tank monitoring solutions, Mopeka is mainly focused on helping propane marketers enhance their operational visibility, compliance and efficiency. As was the case for Scott Petroleum, the 2025 LP Gas Growth Summit was an ideal match for Mopeka, too.
In Halpin’s opinion, the summit “brings together many of the propane industry’s most innovative leaders.” Therefore, it’s an especially ideal setting for discussions about where the propane industry is headed and how technology can support that growth.

“We were particularly interested in connecting with companies that are looking to modernize their tank monitoring, compliance tracking and operational workflows,” Halpin notes.
While attending the summit, Halpin noticed a company that demonstrated these qualities – Scott Petroleum. After originally meeting Brewer at the summit’s opening reception and dinner, Halpin connected with him again during the 20-minute, one-on-one meetings.
“It quickly became clear that Scott Petroleum was very forward thinking when it comes to operational efficiency and technology adoption,” Halpin adds.
Reflecting on the meetings, Brewer says they weren’t only unique but well executed. In particular, the format of the meetings enabled Brewer and Halpin to quickly understand each other’s businesses. This was not only apparent during Brewer’s meeting with Halpin, but in all his other meetings, too.
“Vendors were able to gain a clear overview of our company and operations, while we had a chance to learn more about the products and services they offer,” Brewer says.
“That structure made it easy to identify potential opportunities for collaboration and begin meaningful partnerships.”
The summit’s one-on-one meetings provide industry professionals with the chance to learn about opportunities, challenges and possible future collaborations. Conversations aren’t brief. They aren’t unstructured, either. In turn, professionals can have meaningful and efficient conversations.
“The one-on-one meetings are one of the summit’s most valuable aspects,” Halpin says. “In our case, these conversations helped us identify organizations that are serious about leveraging technology to improve their operations.”
Halpin’s one-on-one meeting with Brewer soon led to a partnership between both companies. Not only was the summit an ideal fit for Mopeka and Scott Petroleum, but the companies were also suitable for each other.
First, Mopeka aligns with Scott Petroleum’s “commitment to operational excellence and customer service,” according to Brewer. Of equal importance, he says, its technology offerings are accurate and reliable, as well.
“In our business, having precise tank-level data is critical to managing inventory and optimizing deliveries,” Brewer says. “Mopeka’s solution gives us confidence, allowing us to operate more efficiently while continuing to deliver the level of service our customers expect.”
While looking back on the past few months, Halpin has been encouraged by the partnership, as it showcases the propane industry’s rising interest in connected monitoring solutions.
“Collaborations like this help us continue refining our solutions, based on real-world feedback from propane marketers who are deploying these technologies in the field,” he adds.
Moreover, through the partnership, Scott Petroleum has reduced its costs while managing its inventory more effectively, automating its delivery planning capabilities and operating more efficiently.
“Most importantly, Mopeka’s accurate tank-level data allows us to be proactive, rather than reactive – improving service reliability for our customers while making better use of our propane truck fleet,” Brewer says.
