Shipley Energy acquires Yeager’s heating oil, HVAC assets

Shipley Energy, based in York, Pennsylvania, acquired the heating oil and HVAC assets of Yeager’s Fuel, located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Cetane Associates announced the deal.

Yeager’s traces its roots to 1939, when founder Richard “Dick” Yeager began delivering coal to the Hazleton School District. Over the following decades, the company expanded into heating oil, air conditioning and full-service heating and cooling. Under the leadership of owner Tony Malandra, who acquired the business in 2001, Yeager’s grew to become the largest privately owned full-service oil heat company in Allentown.

“I’m pleased with the outcome of the sale and grateful to Cetane for helping guide us through the process,” says Tony Malandra, third-generation owner of Yeager’s. “Yeager’s has a long history in the Lehigh Valley, and I am proud of what our family and team have built over the years. I’m confident Shipley Energy will continue to serve our customers well, and I look forward to seeing the business continue to grow.”

Shipley Energy is a fourth-generation, family-owned energy company that has served residential and commercial customers throughout the Northeast for more than 90 years. The company provides a range of energy solutions, including propane.

“We are excited to welcome Yeager’s customers and employees to the Shipley Energy family,” says Dave Gruno, CEO of Shipley Energy. “We look forward to building on the company’s long history in the Lehigh Valley and ensuring customers continue to receive the dependable service and personal attention they have come to expect.”

Cetane served as the sole arranger for Yeager’s. Cetane advised on the sale, including an initial valuation opinion, marketing the business through a confidential process, assisting in negotiating the final deal terms and coordinating the due diligence process. Team members Doug Woosnam, Duncan McMurchie, Fred Lord, Dalton Brooks, Whitney Parsley and Jack McMurchie managed the transaction.

“We are very pleased for Tony and the Yeager’s team,” says Woosnam, director at Cetane. “Tony has continued a remarkable family legacy and built a strong business with strong roots in the Lehigh Valley. We’re glad to have helped him navigate this transition and wish him all the best in the future.”
