DCC Propane LLC of Lisle, Illinois, a division of DCC plc, acquired Affordable Propane Gas, headquartered in Fort Morgan, Colorado. The transaction closed on Nov. 1.

Founded in 2004 by David and Tina McKay, Affordable Propane is a veteran and family-owned propane company that provides residential and commercial propane services. The deal includes Affordable Propane’s two locations in Fort Morgan and Commerce City, along with about 12 vehicles. Ten employees will also join the DCC team.

DCC Propane General Manager Jason Foster will oversee the daily operations at both locations.

“This is really exciting because it strengthens our presence in Colorado,” Foster says. “Affordable Propane’s service area includes some very rural locations that depend on propane, so this means there is a great opportunity for growth.”

DCC Propane is composed of propane retailers across the U.S., serving residential, agricultural, commercial and industrial customers. DCC Propane includes Rocket Propane, a wholesale supplier of propane, and Rocket Supply, a supplier of propane and anhydrous trucks, parts and service. DCC Propane employs more than 900 people across its operations in 22 states.

Affordable Propane is DCC’s third Colorado-based acquisition in the past two years following Blue Flame Propane and Enviro Gas. Deluca Gas, a fourth DCC-owned location in Colorado, is headquartered in Poncha Springs.

Merger and acquisitions consulting firm Blue Peak Resources served as an adviser to Affordable Propane during the transaction.

Blue Peak Resources is a full-service consulting firm specializing in propane and fuel oil mergers and acquisitions. John Armentano and Mike Gioffre began this new venture to help family-owned propane and fuel oil businesses plan for their exit, gain maximum value and continue their legacy for generations.
