Edge Energy Group acquires central Texas companies

November 13, 2025 By     0 Comments

Edge Energy Group, an energy service provider specializing in the distribution and service of propane to residential, agricultural and commercial customers, acquired two central Texas companies: Farmers Propane and Smith & Smith Propane.

The transactions became effective on Aug. 1 and Nov. 6, respectively, and the companies will operate under Edge Energy Group’s Star Tex Propane brand.

The acquisitions are a key part of Edge Energy Group’s long-term plan to grow the central Texas market and expand its service area. The addition of Farmers Propane, which serves customers from its locations in Hamilton and Dublin, Texas, and Smith & Smith Propane, based in Killeen, Texas, significantly enhances Edge Energy Group’s operational footprint and customer density in a high-growth region, according to the company.

“This is a significant milestone for Edge Energy Group,” says Mike McLeod, CEO of Edge Energy Group. “Farmers Propane and Smith & Smith Propane have built outstanding reputations based on reliable service and strong community roots. By bringing these two excellent teams under the Edge umbrella, we are immediately positioned to offer a broader range of services and guaranteed supply to more residential and commercial customers across central Texas.”

Edge Energy Group says it is committed to honoring the legacy of Farmers Propane and Smith & Smith Propane, as it plans to retain all employees from both acquired entities, ensuring a seamless transition and continuity of service for existing customers.

“We value the expertise and local knowledge that these teams bring,” McLeod adds. “Their commitment to customer satisfaction is perfectly aligned with our own values. We look forward to working together to strengthen our combined operations and deliver the safe, reliable energy our customers depend on.”

Edge Energy Group, based in Waco, Texas, focuses on providing value and local expertise throughout its growing service area, which includes its current Texas operations and planned expansions into other U.S. regions.
