Energy Distribution Partners (EDP) promoted Kathy Johnson to executive vice president and chief human resources (HR) officer.

Johnson leads the HR department and serves as a member of EDP’s acquisition team. She and her team of seven HR and payroll professionals provide support to more than 700 employees. They oversee payroll, employee benefits, compensation and talent management, as well as HR policies and compliance for EDP’s corporate office and its 40 retail operations.

Johnson joined EDP in 2018 with more than 20 years of HR leadership experience across a variety of industries. Most recently, she served as vice president of HR for EDP. Prior to EDP, she was director of HR and talent acquisition for Pure Health Solutions and a director of talent acquisition and HR compliance for an organization with more than 11,000 employees across the globe.

Johnson has a bachelor’s degree in HR management from DePaul University. She will graduate in July from Tulane University School of Law with a master’s of jurisprudence in employment and labor law.

EDP President and CEO Tom Knauff launched EDP in 2012, and the company has completed 35 acquisitions.

“Given our rapid expansion through acquisition, Kathy has played a critical role in EDP’s growth,” Knauff says in a press release. “She and her team are committed to providing a smooth HR integration process for our new acquisitions while ensuring we maintain the culture of each local operation. We are ‘people-focused’ at EDP, and Kathy truly cares about our employees and their wellbeing. We are lucky to have her.”

Chicago-based EDP serves customers across 19 states and ranks ninth in LP Gas’ 2023 Top Propane Retailers ranking for highest gallon sales.
