Empire Group acquires Canadian Heating Products
Empire Group, the parent company of Empire Comfort Systems, has acquired Canadian Heating Products Inc. (doing business as Montigo Fireplaces) of Langley, British Columbia, Canada.
“We look forward to our companies working together to offer our customers more diverse products and services,” says Nick Bauer, the fourth-generation president of Empire, in a news release posted by the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association. “Very rarely does one plus one equal three, but with little crossover in products and customers, we feel that this acquisition will make both companies stronger.”
Pat Bradley, president and CEO of Montigo Fireplaces, envisions new opportunities through the deal.
“For more than 40 years, Montigo has led the way delivering industry-first innovation and design through its broad range of product categories. Today, we look forward to continuing this commitment with the enhanced support this acquisition will bring,” Bradley says in the news release.
Empire Comfort Systems grew out of a small sheet metal shop founded by Henry Bauer in 1932 in the city of Belleville, Illinois. The family tradition continues as both Nick Bauer and Jane Bauer represent the fourth generation of Bauers at Empire Comfort Systems. The company currently manufactures hearth products, grills and space heaters in eight locations throughout North America.
Canadian Heating Products is a North American-based manufacturer of residential and commercial gas fireplaces that are marketed and sold under the Montigo brand name. The company’s product offerings include gas fireplaces for the residential market as well as customized and semi-custom linear gas fireplaces for the residential and commercial markets.
