Georgia Agricultural Commodity Commission for Propane renewed for five years
The Georgia Agricultural Commodity Commission for Propane (GACCP) has been renewed for another five years after a majority vote by Georgia marketers.
Raleigh Garrett, commission president, and members of the commission facilitated the voting process, which included 97 percent of ballots in favor of the commission’s continuation.
The renewal is part of a statutory requirement that mandates the GACCP to vote on its continuation every five years. Since its establishment, the GACCP has funded programs focused on enhancing propane education, ensuring safety compliance, providing training and assisting low-income customers with rebates for energy-efficient appliances.
Key achievements of the commission include:
- Issued 3,384 rebates for propane appliances across Georgia.
- Distributed a total of $612,900 in rebates.
- Recently doubled rebates for citizens affected by Hurricane Helene.
- Conducted over 200 classes, totaling nearly 2,000 students, on topics such as basic operations, bobtail and gas check, led by the director of code compliance and education.
- Deployed mobile training units via the Southeast Propane Alliance Technical Education Center (SEPATEC) to provide customized training for dealers.
