PERC names new officers, approves funding requests

June 2, 2023 By

Chris DeFilippo of Superior Plus will become the next chairman of the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) when it meets in July in Big Sky, Montana. The council approved its new slate of officers during its April meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.

PERC also appointed Chris Hill of Meritum Energy as vice chairman, marketers; Joe McGinn of Energy Transfer as vice chairman, producers; Trent Hampton of Lakes Gas as treasurer; Jeff Kerns of ThompsonGas as secretary; and Stuart Weidie of Blossman Gas as immediate past chairman.

PERC also approved the following funding requests:

  • $1,495,000 for the 2023 partnership with industry organizations, supporting the council’s work in areas including Advisory Committee participation, codes and standards, research and development, agency outreach, industry conferences and conventions. The funding will support salary, wages and benefits, consultants and contractors, conference and event fees, travel and other expenses.
  • $614,000 for Learning Center operations and the consolidation of annual expenses for a project that PERC refers to as the repository and delivery system for its workforce educational programs.
  • $75,200 for the development of a gas cylinders stewardship program and consumer safety campaign. The project, a new concept state rebate for the New England Propane Foundation, aims to improve communication methods, terminology and safety outreach to consumers; towns and municipalities; waste management and recycling facilities; and other public officials concerning 20-pound refillable gas cylinders.
