Phoenix Park plans Southern Gateway Rail Hub in Texas

December 10, 2020 By

Phoenix Park Energy Marketing plans to construct the Southern Gateway Rail Hub, a 30,000-barrels-per-day (bpd) LPG rail terminal in Corpus Christi, Texas, to serve export markets from local LPG supply sources.

The Southern Gateway Rail Hub will be served by one or more Class 1 railroads and connected to regional LPG fractionators, as well as to Buckeye Partners’ existing LPG infrastructure in Corpus Christi, according to Phoenix Park. Buckeye Partners, which provides midstream logistics solutions, primarily consisting of the transportation, storage, processing and marketing of liquid petroleum products, is helping to develop the project.

The rail hub is in the final stages of engineering and design, reports Phoenix Park, which expects the parties to reach a final investment decision in the first quarter of 2021. The company didn’t provide a time frame for completing the project.

In other company news this year, Phoenix Park acquired the natural gas liquids (NGL) marketing assets of Twin Eagle Liquids Marketing, based in Houston.

Phoenix Park Energy Marketing is a subsidiary of Phoenix Park Gas Processors, which is headquartered in Trinidad and Tobago. Phoenix Park Energy Marketing provides NGL marketing and trading services to customers within North America and Mexico, and operates from the company’s Houston-based offices.

Donnie Schubert leads Phoenix Park Energy Marketing as president. The energy industry veteran, who joined the company in February, has held stints with AmeriGas, NGL Energy Partners and Suburban Propane.
