Propane Market Metrics: Corn leads U.S. crop production

Commentary: Corn is by far the No. 1 crop in the United States in terms of volume produced annually, and that number has grown considerably over the past 25 years, hitting an all-time high in 2025.
Corn is the top grain dried with propane, averaging about 35 percent of the gallons sold in agriculture, but it’s certainly not the only one. Other examples include tobacco, peanuts, wheat, soy, hops, cannabis and other nuts, cereal grains and seeds.
Meanwhile, poultry house heat consumes 40 percent of the ag sales volume. Broilers are chickens raised for meat. They exclude egg and turkey production that encompass the “poultry” category.
