Tom Clark, executive director of the Rocky Mountain Propane Association (RMPA), has taken the same position with the Colorado (CPGA) and New Mexico (NMPGA) propane associations. He replaces Dan Binning, who will retire at the end of the year.

Clark says his role will remain the same with the RMPA, which also becomes the management firm for his two new associations. This will allow all three organizations to share staff and resources, he adds.

Clark has previously served on the board of the Rocky Mountain Propane Association, National Propane Gas Association and the Utah LP Gas Board.

“The synergy between RMPA, CPGA and NMPGA should allow us better communications, trainings, events and advocacy while reducing costs to keep propane relevant in the Rockies from Mexico to Canada,” Clark shares in an email to LP Gas.

Binning told LP Gas that his state association work has been rewarding as he’s helped Colorado and New Mexico overcome financial challenges. “We’ve worked hard with the board and the executive committee in New Mexico, and I’ll be leaving them in fine financial shape when I retire at the end of the year. We have very good lobbyists in both states that help us tremendously. It’s been rewarding to get the training done and utilize the PERC funds. It’s gratifying to see the industry participating.”

Binning is planning to retire after 44 years in the propane industry. He took over the Colorado and New Mexico associations in 2016 after holding several positions over the years on the retail and supply side. He plans to stay involved with the industry’s Benchmarking Council.

Clark also hosts “The State of Energy,” a popular podcast about propane industry topics, with Rand DeWitt.

LP Gas Editor in Chief Brian Richesson and Publisher Brian Kanaba had the chance to sit down with Clark and DeWitt to record a podcast episode that aired June 15. Listen to the 25-minute conversation now.
