Trotter, who also serves as a volunteer firefighter, helped save two lives in January when he responded to a severe, single-vehicle accident, where he found two high school-aged girls trapped in a car, the company explains. The driver was in serious condition, and the passenger, 15-year-old Abigail, was critical. She had sustained a skull fracture, a broken neck, a broken back, broken hips and other various injuries, which resulted in numerous surgeries.

Due in part to Trotter’s heroic efforts on scene, Abigail survived and is doing well now, the company says. Her parents consider Trotter and the other EMT on the scene to be her “two angels.”

Trotter was honored at a luncheon where he was recognized by his colleagues and members of the SuburbanCares team.

The SuburbanCares Award, established in 2018, honors an individual member of the company who has made a significant impact on one or more individuals, a community or a charitable organization, whether through ongoing, dedicated community service and volunteerism, an act of heroism, compassion for a customer, a fellow employee, or any other effort demonstrating care for the well-being of others.

Suburban Propane says its SuburbanCares initiative highlights the company’s philanthropic and community outreach efforts, including its continued dedication to supporting frontline health care workers in local communities throughout its 41-state footprint.
