2022 Zero Prostate Cancer Pros4Care golf benefit raises $36,000
The annual Zero Prostate Cancer Pros4Care golf benefit, held this fall at Brookhaven Country Club in the Dallas area, drew about 100 golfers and raised $36,000 for prostate cancer awareness.
Pros4Care merged in 2022 with Zero – The End of Prostate Cancer to leverage the impact of their shared goals. Zero Cancer is a national nonprofit that promotes awareness and provides support for patients and family members suffering from prostate cancer.
Several propane industry members participated in and sponsored this year’s event. Other special guests included celebrities from FOX4DFW: news anchor Brandon Todd, chief meteorologist Dan Henry and traffic anchor Chip Waggoner, who also emceed the event. Tom Hulsey, author, cancer survivor and Zero Cancer board member, served as the guest speaker.
According to Zero Cancer, prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in men. One in eight men will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime, and more than 3.1 million men are currently living with prostate cancer in the U.S.
“The partnership formed with Zero Cancer is allowing us to help more patients with many more resources,” says Ed Varney, who co-founded Pros4Care in 2006 with other propane industry members.
The 2023 golf benefit, which will celebrate the organization’s 15th anniversary, is set for Oct. 9 at Brookhaven Country Club.
