Baltimore’s first propane autogas taxi fleet will be launched May 11 at a special ceremony during which Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake takes the city’s first propane taxi ride. Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) will be among those who attend the ceremony commemorating the launch at Veolia Transportation.

Veolia is converting 300 of its taxis in Baltimore, Denver, Jacksonville and Pittsburgh from gasoline to propane autogas. The company has installed an autogas fueling station in Baltimore to serve 50 taxis. In all, Veolia’s fleet contains nearly 700 vehicles.

Veolia’s vehicle conversions are being completed under the Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program.
