WLGA welcomes new president, vice president
The World Liquid Gas Association (WLGA) appointed Donal Murphy, CEO of Ireland-based DCC plc, as its new president and A S Sahney, chairman of Indian Oil Corp., as vice president.
Murphy was appointed as WLGA president for a two-year term during the 2025 WLGA General Assembly, which took place Sept. 23 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“It’s an honor to serve as president of the WLGA at such a pivotal moment for our industry,” Murphy says. “Liquid gas – and particularly renewable liquid gas – has a vital role to play in the global energy transition. Over the next two years, I look forward to working closely with our members and partners across the energy ecosystem to strengthen regional engagement and foster collaboration that drives real-world decarbonization. Together, I’m confident we can ensure our sector is recognized as a key contributor to a cleaner, more resilient energy future.”
About his selection as vice president, Sahney says, “It is a great honor to be able to serve the WLGA as its vice president. India’s LPG journey, powered by the Ujjwala Yojana and covering over 99 percent of Indian households, demonstrates how inclusive policy and strong infrastructure can transform lives. Indian Oil, as the country’s largest LPG marketer, delivers over 2.8 million cylinders daily and serves more than 150 million consumers. Our experience in scaling access and managing logistics holds valuable lessons for the world. I look forward to sharing India’s success story, fostering deeper collaboration and advancing innovative pathways like bio-LPG and renewable DME to position liquid gas as the fuel of choice in bridging energy gaps and driving equitable progress.”
WLGA also thanked its outgoing president, Tabajara Bertelli Costa, CEO of Ultragaz in Brazil, for his role in supporting and leading the association since March 2024. View the full WLGA board.
