AMETEK Inc., a manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, acquired Telular Corp., the parent company of SkyBitz, a provider of communication solutions for tank monitoring and logistics management.

Telular, headquartered in Chicago, was acquired for about $525 million.

“We are excited to welcome Telular to AMETEK, as it is an excellent company with differentiated technology solutions serving attractive market segments,” says David A. Zapico, AMETEK chairman and CEO.

Telular joins AMETEK’s electronic instruments group, which works with advanced analytical, monitoring, testing, calibrating and display instruments.

“As an AMETEK company, SkyBitz has access to considerable technical, operational and commercial resources to promote the continued expansion of its portfolio of products and services for propane, chemical and petroleum tank monitoring, fuel logistics, and transportation fleets,” says Henry Popplewell, president of SkyBitz. “As an S&P 500 company and a global leader in helping customers solve their most complex challenges, AMETEK offers a commitment and strong foundation for the long-term success of SkyBitz and its customers.”
