EDP acquires South Carolina-based Carmichael Propane

November 13, 2018 By

Energy Distribution Partners (EDP) acquired Carmichael Propane, a propane retailer based in Waterboro, South Carolina.

Carmichael Propane services about 3,000 customers in Berkley, Charleston, Colleton and Dorchester counties. These counties are adjacent to the service territory of EDP’s recently acquired Carolina Propane operation, the company reports.

“I was ready to retire but wanted to ensure my employees would not only be able to keep their jobs but have the chance to work for a quality company that would provide both a generous benefits package and career opportunities,” says Randy Carmichael. “I also wanted to ensure that our customers would continue to receive the kind of personal customer service they’ve come to expect from my team over the years. I was pleasantly surprised how easy the EDP team was to work with, from due diligence to post closing integration. Just a great group of people.”

This is the second propane marketer in South Carolina acquired by EDP in South Carolina.

“Randy Carmichael has run an excellent operation and Carmichael Propane has established a reputation for providing superior customer service. We are delighted to have Carmichael Propane join EDP,” says Tom Knauff, CEO of EDP. “We welcome the Carmichael employees and look forward to continuing to provide exceptional service to customers across their service area.”
