The National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) appointed Tom Jaenicke as its governmental affairs committee chairman for 2016-17.

Jaenicke will lead the committee along with Cindy Platz-Belmont, who serves as vice chairman.

In his new role, Jaenicke is responsible for guiding NPGA’s legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts. According to NPGA, Jaenicke has been a long-time member of its governmental affairs committee.

The governmental affairs committee comprises six issue-specific task forces, including energy policy, autogas, regulatory/compliance, rail advocacy, pipeline advocacy and enhanced agency outreach. This year, the committee plans to focus on educating incoming members of Congress and new administration about the environmental and economic benefits of using propane, NPGA adds.

Jaenicke has volunteered for a number of positions at NPGA over the years. He has served as conventions committee chairman, energy policy task force chairman, a PropanePAC steering committee member and a Women in Propane Council member. He also serves as the vice president of propane services at Warm Thoughts Communications, and he’s a member of LP Gas‘ Editorial Advisory Board. Jaenicke serves LP Gas as a marketing columnist, as well.
