Delta Liquid Energy promotes new vice president of business enterprises
Delta Liquid Energy (DLE), a family-owned and -operated propane retailer, has promoted Allison Platz-Velazquez to vice president of business enterprises.
“As I step into my new role, I am most excited about continuing to foster the relationships with our current customers, as well as the opportunity to create new relationships with both existing and future customers,” Platz-Velazquez says.
The former vice president of business enterprises, Robert Jacobs, is retiring after more than 32 years with the company. He also served as chairman of the agriculture advisory committee for the Propane Education & Research Council.
“I have truly enjoyed working alongside each and every one of my fellow team members and most of all the entire Platz family,” Jacobs says. “My successor, Allison Platz-Velazquez, most certainly possesses the great qualities, industry knowledge and leadership skills that will provide a seamless transition of my duties. I will always have great respect and appreciation for DLE, the company, the people and the customers.”
For his entire time at the company, Jacobs worked alongside DLE President Bill Platz.
“Robert’s 32 years of service to our customers and employees has been integral to the success of DLE,” Platz says. “We thank Robert for his influence, intelligence and generosity to those around him. We will miss his presence in our midst.”
Most recently the director of sales and marketing, Platz-Velazquez has been working at DLE since 2016. She is the great-granddaughter of DLE’s founders, Harry and Iva Platz. According to the company, Platz-Velazquez was the first fourth-generation family member to join the company.
A 2018 LP Gas Rising Leader, Platz-Velazquez is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After working in the San Francisco Bay Area for a few years, Platz-Velazquez worked at nearby Allegretto Vineyard Resort before joining the DLE team.
“Robert’s passion for the DLE team and our company is humbling and motivating,” Platz-Velazquez says. “He has spent the bulk of his career experience with DLE, and I am so grateful for the professional and life lessons he’s taught me. He has left some very big shoes to fill, but I am confident in my ability to take this challenge on.”
Based in Paso Robles, California, DLE was founded in 1936 as San Luis Butane Distributors. It became known as Delta Liquid Energy in 1987. Today, the company continues to be family owned with eight locations throughout California and one in Nevada. DLE ranks 30th in LP Gas’ 2024 Top Propane Retailers ranking for highest gallon sales.
