EDP expands New England presence
EDP purchased the propane assets of P. Gagnon & Son, located in South Berwick, Maine.
Founded in 1904, P. Gagnon & Son is a full-service fuel company serving customers in Maine and New Hampshire. It provides propane, fuel oil and installation/service work to residential and commercial customers.
“We are very pleased to have the team from P. Gagnon & Son join EDP,” says EDP CEO Thomas Knauff. “P. Gagnon & Son has built a reputation for providing safe and reliable service to its customers in Maine and New Hampshire, and we are extremely pleased to welcome them to EDP.”
The company has remained in the Gagnon family for four generations and has been owned and managed by Mark Gagnon since 1991.
“My great-grandfather, Placide, started the business 120 years ago,” Gagnon says. “When I decided it was time to transition our company, it was important to me our family’s name would remain and our employees would stay on, continuing to serve our customers. That is how EDP operates, and that’s why I selected them. I am confident our business will continue to grow, our customers will continue to receive excellent service and our employees will continue to thrive.”
The acquisition of P. Gagnon & Son is EDP’s 38th transaction.
Chicago-based EDP provides propane service to residential and commercial customers in 23 states and ranks ninth in LP Gas’ 2024 Top Propane Retailers ranking for highest gallon sales. The company says it is actively seeking to expand its national footprint and diversify through the addition of new retail propane and light fuels operations.
