Michael Newland has joined the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) staff as director of agriculture business development.

Newland brings more than 20 years of experience in sales, sales management, project management and brand development in the agriculture market. He fills the position vacated last November with the promotion of Cinch Munson to senior vice president of business development.

Newland recently worked as national sales manager for business development for AgYield, a full-service revenue management company for growers based in Illinois. Prior to AgYield, he was vice president of sales and operations for the Midwest USA division of MagGrow, an Ireland-based company that develops magnetic spraying systems for the horticulture and arable sectors of the agricultural industry. He also worked as the director of field operations and national agronomist for Connecticut-based Wilton Agriculture Strategies.

“Mike brings to us a unique combination of an agriculture background, technical acumen and a business development mindset,” Munson said. “We are happy to have him join the industry through this role at PERC.”

The Lima, Ohio, resident is a certified crop adviser and holds a degree in organizational management from Bluffton University. He also attended the executive education program at Harvard Business School.
