Tiger Fuel acquires Anderson Oil & Propane
Tiger Fuel plans to acquire Anderson Oil & Propane of Fredericksburg, Virginia, joining two fuel companies with more than 90 years of combined experience in the oil and gas industry.
With the investment, Tiger Fuel will expand its service area from central Virginia to the greater Fredericksburg market. The move also provides Tiger Fuel with the ability to continue its growth in the state, following previous investments in the Orange, Greene, Buckingham, Lovingston and Appomattox regions of Virginia.
Anderson Oil’s 38 employees will join Tiger Fuel’s employee base of nearly 400 team members across four brands, including a car wash brand, Tiger Wash; a gourmet to-go convenience store chain, The Markets by Tiger; and a commercial and residential solar contractor, Tiger Solar.
“I am extremely proud of the work we have been able to do here, and that is evident in our sale to Tiger. When you have two like-minded companies that put employees and customers first and honor that commitment, it’s an easier way to exit this industry,” says Mark Anderson, president of Anderson. “In many ways, Tiger Fuel has been charting a parallel path, focusing on its employees, customers and communities. There is no better steward for our company, and we close this chapter of the Anderson family confident our family business is in the capable hands of Tiger.”
Gordon Sutton, president of Tiger Fuel, says the companies “had more in common than we ever anticipated.”
“As we bring Tiger Fuel to the greater Fredericksburg area, we are confident that our approach to employee enrichment, customer service and charitable giving will feel like business as usual to Anderson’s customers and community,” he says. “We are honored that Mark and the Anderson team have entrusted us to continue their legacy and are very excited to grow our operations into a new market.”
The companies plan to close in the second quarter.
