AWG expands propane business in Montana

February 16, 2021 By

American Welding & Gas (AWG), headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, acquired Axmen Propane, headquartered in Frenchtown, Montana.

Since 2000, Axmen Propane has been locally owned and operated by the Hanson family and Mike Svoboda in western Montana.

“We just finished our 20th year, and we are very pleased to have teamed up with AWG to carry on Axmen Propane for at least the next 20 years,” says Svoboda, owner and general manager of Axmen Propane.

Axmen Propane joins AWG’s existing Silvertip Propane business in Montana.

“We are excited to welcome the Axmen family to the AWG team,” says Jason Krieger, president and CEO of AWG. “Their commitment to safety and their focus on not just delivering propane, but delivering customer peace of mind, is well aligned with our existing value proposition for our Silvertip Propane customers. We look forward to continued growth together.”

AWG is an independent distributor of welding supplies and industrial, medical and specialty gases in the U.S. It operates more than 70 retail locations and 18 fill plants in an area stretching from Montana to Florida. The company has facilities in 21 states and distributes gases to more than 30 states and Canada.
