C3 gets EPA permit for propane dehydrogenation plant

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a final greenhouse gas prevention of significant deterioration construction permit to C3 Petrochemicals LLC in Alvin, Texas. C3 plans to construct a new propane dehydrogenation plant at its existing facility near Alvin that will convert propane to propylene. According to a press release, the propane dehydrogenation process will use a continuous catalytic regenerator that does not use combustion or steam and results in lower greenhouse gas emissions.
