Enterprise expands export loading capacity

March 7, 2013 By

Enterprise Products Partners LP recently started operating its expanded export facility on the Houston Ship Channel, increasing its ability to load propane. According to Enterprise, the loading capacity for low-ethane propane now increases from about 4 million barrels per month to about 7.5 million barrels per month.

Additionally, Enterprise and Oiltanking Partners LP, which owns the marine terminal complex, have expanded the scope of their long-term terminal service agreement that runs through 2026. The amended agreement gives Enterprise additional operating flexibility, including an increase in the number of docks available to load propane export vessels.

Enterprise is also evaluating an additional expansion that would increase its propane export capacity up to 10 million barrels per month as soon as 2015.

“There is strong international demand for U.S. propane and we continue to receive strong indications of interest for long-term commitments from customers that could underwrite another expansion of the export facility,” says Jim Teague, COO of Enterprise’s general partner.
