Enterprise increases loading capacity at terminal

April 7, 2015 By

Enterprise Products Partners LP expanded its LP gas export terminal at the Houston Ship Channel, which increased the facility’s capacity for loading fully refrigerated, low-ethane propane to 9 million barrels per month. Enterprise can accommodate three additional ships per month because of the increase.

Enterprise is also constructing a new refrigeration train that will increase loading rates by 11,000 barrels per hour. Completion is planned for the fourth quarter of this year. Once that construction project is complete, Enterprise will be able to load up to 16 million barrels per month of propane, which equates to 29 vessels.

“By increasing capacity at our LPG export terminal, we are providing customers with access to international markets, which helps facilitate continued domestic production that would otherwise be significantly curtailed,” says A.J. Teague, COO of Enterprise’s general partner.

Enterprise’s LP gas terminal has about 1,800 cargoes scheduled from 2015 to 2024. To ensure adequate supply to the docks, the partnership is in the final stages of completing a 30-inch diameter LP gas pipeline from Mont Belvieu, Texas, to the terminal.
