1. Empire Gas Co. and Liquilux Gas Corp. organized two brigades to assist victims of a magnitude 6.4 earthquake that rocked southwestern Puerto Rico in January. San Juan-based Empire Gas bolstered its safety measures and set out to help others as seismic activity continued. The company’s executives and employees donated first aid supplies, as well as 20-pound propane tanks to families in need.
