Ferrellgas acquires Colorado-based retailer

Ferrellgas expands its presence in Colorado with the acquisition of Selph’s Propane.

Ferrellgas Partners LP acquired Selph’s Propane, a propane retailer based in Pagosa Springs, Colo.

Details on the transaction were not disclosed.

Ferrellgas branched into the Durango, Colo., area two years ago. Steve Wambold, the company’s president and CEO, says acquiring Selph’s Propane serves as a way to further expand the company’s footprint in the market.

“Selph’s is a strong, family-run business,” says Wambold, in a company statement. “[Selph’s is] the type of business that has long been the hallmark of our acquisitions efforts.”

Selph’s Propane is Ferrellgas’ most recent acquisition of nearly 240 propane retailers in the company’s 75-year history.
